Safety
Stay Safe in Web3
The crypto space is full of opportunities, but also scammers. Learn the golden rules to protect your assets and farm airdrops safely.
Private Keys & Seed Phrases
Your seed phrase (12-24 words) is the master key to your wallet. If someone has it, they have your money. No legitimate support team will EVER ask for it.
- DO: Store your seed phrase offline, on paper or metal. Keep it in a safe place.
- DON'T: Never enter your seed phrase on a website, share it in a DM, or save it in a cloud file.
Phishing Links
Scammers buy ads on Google and Twitter that look exactly like the real project. Connecting your wallet to a fake site can drain your funds instantly.
- DO: Bookmark official links from sources like CoinGecko, DefiLlama, or the project's official Twitter handle.
- DON'T: Don't click on Google Ads or random links sent in Discord DMs or Telegram groups.
Wallet Separation
Airdrop farming involves interacting with new, unproven protocols. Don't risk your main savings by using the same wallet.
- DO: Use a 'Burner Wallet' for airdrop farming. Only keep the funds you need for gas fees in it.
- DON'T: Don't use your cold storage (Ledger/Trezor) with your life savings to interact with beta dApps.
Transaction Signing
Be very careful what you sign. A 'Set Approval for All' or a 'Signature Request' can sometimes give a hacker permission to move your tokens.
- DO: Read what the transaction says. Use tools like Pocket Universe or Wallet Guard to simulate transactions.
- DON'T: Don't blindly click 'Confirm' just to get a transaction through quickly.
Common scams
- The Help Desk DM: unsolicited DMs offering to 'sync your wallet'.
- Address poisoning: tiny transfers from lookalike addresses.
- Fake airdrop tokens: unknown tokens that lead to malicious swap sites.
